Carmel Mountain Hike with Dave Hogan

  • San Diego, CA, 92130 United States (map)

Saturday January 28, 8 - 10 a.m.  (Rain cancels)

Join naturalist and Director of The Chaparral Lands Conservancy David Hogan for a gentle 3-mile hike to vernal pools and ocean views on the Carmel Mountain Preserve. Learn about the conservation history of this preserve that was saved from long-planned residential development. We’ll visit a new vernal pool interpretive viewing deck built by the Conservancy and an Eagle Scout to check out fairy shrimp and tadpoles before continuing through an amazing native vegetation mosaic of rare southern maritime chaparral, living cyptobiotic soils, and fragrant coastal sage scrub. Meet at the trailhead at Fairport Way and Shorepointe Way next to Ocean Air Park in Carmel Valley.
