OWL PROWL

  • Friends of Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve Canyonside Park Driveway San Diego, CA, 92129 United States (map)

Join Friends' past president and interpretive naturalist Brian Swanson on an owl prowl as we search for western screech owls and other creatures of the night. Brian grew up in the canyons of San Diego, has been a Canyoneer for the San Diego Natural History Museum for 30 years, and has been a board member leading owl walks for the Friends of los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve for more than 20 years. We will be walking on mostly flat dirt trails and roads, so comfortable shoes with some traction are essential. Bring a headlamp or flashlight and a light coat and, if you are sensitive to the few mosquitoes that we may encounter, repellant. Meet at the far west end of Canyonside Park Drive, on the west side of the baseball fields at Canyonside Park, 12350 Black Mtn. Road. No restrooms. Arrive early to avoid parking stress.
